The Wedding Specialists Ocones really began when Barbara Ocone, a young Air Force wife stationed in El Paso, found a creative flair and talent for millinery and making custom silk flowers. She taught millinery and sold exquisite silk flowers and hats to small stores. She also provided hats for the attendants in individual wedding parties. Brides liked her work and began asking for hats with veils, then lace mantillas. When her husband John left the Air Force in 1963, they returned to Fort Worth and she continued to service local brides. Neiman Marcus liked her work and requested that she design for their bridal salon in Fort Worth. Within a few years she was designing for numerous specialty stores and all the headwear for all Neiman Marcus bridal salons. John and Barbara purchased a couture fabric store in the Neiman Marcus center in 1973. They continued to operate it until the fabric store was destroyed by fire in 1980. The bride shop was born at that point. Our vision has always been to provide outstanding merchandise great service and the best bridal experience possible. We search the world for the finest merchandise and best value. We regularly visit Europe seeking special gowns. Last visit we order great new gowns from Cymbeline of France and Pronovias of Spain, plus exquisite new merchandise from other European designers. Who else can take an heirloom veil or lace panel and create a new veil to enhance your wedding gown or design an elaborate one of a kind cathedral length veil edged in French Alencon lace? Our brides tell us we have the largest selection of bridesmaids dresses in the DFW Metroplex and we haven't forgotten the rest of your party either. We believe alterations are key to how your gown will look on you so we provide in house alterations to assure the best service we can provide to you. At the heart of the Ocones experience is the relationship between the bride and her personal bridal consultant. Our highly experienced consultants are part stylist, part counselor and sometime part fairy godmother as they guide the bride from the day she first walks through the door untill the day she walks down the aisle. Our consultants know the stock and are trained to determine your preferences and help you find the most flattering gown to make your dreams reality. They haven't forgotten the rest of your party. They are great at color coordination, figure flattering advice and finding solutions to difficult problems. You are not left to wait on yourself. At Ocones destination wedding gowns start around $400 with more traditional gowns ranging beyond $5,000.
